Kikidoll’s Bikini In A Bottle

Whats Kikidoll’s bikini in a bottle all about ?

Kikidoll is preparing to ‘launch’ her capsule Cruise Collection of swimwear for 2010-2011–literally–drifting towards a beach near you sometime this autumn.

Filling 21 bio-degradable sea-worthy bottles each with her newest 21 Hawaiian-inspired printed string bikinis that she just previewed at Miami Swim Week for next year, Kiki is sealing them up, ready for a  voyage of a lifetime.

Releasing them from her native Waikiki Beach, Honolulu next month, Kiki is relying on the very same equatorial currents that guided the Pacific peoples of the Marchesas and Tahiti to the islands of Hawaii several thousands of years ago by canoe and paddle.

It is estimated that each bikini in a bottle, will hit land between 60 and 90 days, using the current map, above, as a guide. Watch this space for updates and photos of the launch and any sightings when they hit landfall. Photos are invited from any lucky beachcombers!

The Southern currents will push the teeny bikinis in a bottle  towards the Pacific rim basin–Australasia and Pacific islands. Northern currents will take the bottles towards the Americas, north, south, Latin and central. The West wind drift will push them towards Europe and the Pacific drift will send some aloha to Canada.

The rule of finders-keepers applies, so get out there in time to scoop up a Kikidoll bikini amongst the shells and treasures of the ocean!

Ready, steady, go! You’ve got 24 hours, like Jack. How to make the most of the day off? Well, start with a list!
Number 1 has got to be: Beautify
Get to the salon or DIY but get those mani/pedi chores done. Same goes for waxing, ahem…
2? Clean out one closet or one drawer. Just one. There. Feel better now?
3 is reserved for emptying out the Inbox, mail tray, Spam folder and junk file. Clearing up the clutter on your computer is almost like a closet, see 2 above, for the after-glow feel good factor. Extra bonus: back up files.
4: Bag up to give away any tee shirt with a) a stain, b) a hole, c) stretched out/shrunken sizing, d) really corny, outdated design/slogans. Bet that pile is bigger than you expected. Natural disaster victims will love you.
5: Bake some cookies but give them all away, wrapped nicely of course.
6: Read, read, read.
7: Take a nap. Then watch old movies. Then nap some more.
8: Call an old girlfriend up for a chat and do not , repeat, do not, say ‘well, I have to go now’… Talk ’til you drop.
9: Drink only juice all day, fruit and or veg. Trust.
10:Go to bed early. By 9. Really.

Hula girls

Homesick for those swaying palms and sugar cane? Need a Mai Tai? Missing home/holiday/hula in Honolulu?

Next time you are dancing on your own at home in front of the hand cam or iPhone, take a lesson from Kawena Chun.

Seen dancing hula ‘auana style on her  Facebook, the first runner-up to Miss Hawaii and winner of the Swim Suit Competition, Kawena sways ever so lovely to the song  ’Honolulu, I am Coming Back Again’.  It’s so inviting and heartwarming you’ll wanna jump on the next Hawaiian Airlines flight bound for Oahu. ( And there are deals to be had, both ways.)

Recently de-camped to LA, the city has a new Hawaiian angel in Miss Chun. Model, presenter, dancer and pageant winner, the graceful gorgeous actress is the personification of Aloha. Of all her beautiful charms, her smile is the most radiant.

Kawena used to shine in Honolulu; now Los Angeles is the lucky winner to have her there.  Look for her in weeks and months to come, stepping out in ads and acting roles. She is a fine divine dancing wahine!

Hau’oli la hanau is Hawaiian for Happy Birthday.

In the islands the big day is call for a luau, or a potluck buffet, where the whole ohana and extended friends and family hele over for the Kailua pork and trimmings.

Leis are bestowed, pressies made and given. Meles are sung. And everyone makes and takes plate, or the left-overs, with them.

Today is Kikidoll’s friend CC’s birthday.  Let’s celebrate. Pass the Mai Tais!  It’s gonna be a rockin’ night.

Last week, on neighbor island Maui, Letarte Swimwear celebrated its 10 year birthday with stylish liliko’i Cosmos and pupu. Congratulations to another local swimwear company with such a strong showing in Sports Illustrated Swim.

Next week another milestone, another birthday for gorgeous beach girl Kalena.  Let’s go party, girls, in our designer swimwear bikinis!

About Kikidoll
Kikidoll is the eternal beachgirl, and takes her inspiration from the awesome elegance and pristine simplicity of beaches and waves everywhere. She muses on islands, oceans, beaches, shells, flowers, tropical living, travel, design and style, swimming, surfing, her beloved Hawaii nei, the spirit of aloha, iconic symbols and of course the fleeting ‘endless summer’. Most importantly, she frets over what to wear at the beach!
